KEY CONCEPTS:
Attacking others for perceived wrongs, oflen through self-victirmization
Revenge is one of the most hidden forces or dynamics.
In a situation where people seem to have been victimized, they may actually be getting back a significant person in their life.
This means that illnesses, accidents, conflicts and problems of any kind can be a significant communication and attack on another.
Basically, the message at a subconscious level is, ‘This has happened to me because of you. If you had loved me more, treated me better, helped me, not treated me so badly, etc., this would not be happening in my life.’
The very essence of the victim stance is, ‘ l am willing to be hurt, so that l can hurt you.’
Because the dynamic is so hidden, most people are embarrassed to discover that they have revenge within them.
Using the card
If you receive this card, you may be actively trying to hurt someone ‘to end the you are suffering (which will not work).
It is more likely you are suffering some problem as a means of avenging yourself on another.
Look at your subconscious motivations, and ask yourself, ‘Who would I be getting back at by having this situation occur?’
The answer is in your mind so just let it pop in.
Becoming aware of what is going on is half the battle. However, to say (as many people do) that the revenge you are getting is on yourself is a way of avoiding this powerful question.
Of course, you are always hurling yourself, but you are also doing that to get back at someone else.
To be free of revenge, you must be willing to give up your suffering and the accusations which go with it.
Both forgiveness and letting go would empower you to move forward, and, in coming to a new level of openness, would also allow you to receive what you have always wanted.
The acid test for finding out when you are beyond revenge is that you are no longer suffering.
Revenge is a two-edged sword that cuts both outward and inward.
As the old proverb goes, ‘He who seeks revenge had best two graves.’ Revenge doesn’t work. It stops your life.
Today it is time to accept the hidden dynamics - which are what is really going on in your situation - and to forgive and let go so that you might be healed.
